Charlotte [Colton] Pollock
     Charlotte was born on Saturday, 24 December 1853 in the Village of Bronte, Trafalgar Township, Halton County, Ontario, Canada. Charlotte married George Pollock, son of William Dixon Pollock and Lydia Ann Jeffery, on 24 September 1872 in the Village of Bronte, Trafalgar Township.1 George & Charlotte were raised in Bronte, Ontario. About 1880, upon the urging of Charlotte's sister Sarah, they removed to a small farm on the outskirts of Elora, Ontario in Nichol Township. Soon after, George's job as a ship's captain took the family to reside in the United States at Cheboygan, Michigan by June of 1880. While there, George became a 32nd degree Mason. On 11 April 1887, George & Charlotte purchased 50 acres in Nichol Township on concession 13 lot 19 from John Scott for $1,800.00. In the early 1890's, the family returned to reside at their farm for a short time. By 1895, the family was living at 260 Second Street, Detroit, Michigan. Between 1901 & 1902, the family moved to 332 Howard in Detroit. They are last found there in 1906. The family had moved back to their farm in Elora which they had been renting during their stay in the U.S. Charlotte continued to reside there on the farm until her death. On 14 December 1917, Charlotte purchased an adjacent 50 acres of land from George W. Fisher. On 30 April 1931. the land was sold to Herbert Scott for $2900.00. 1 April 1880, Charlotte and her husband, George, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Cheboygan, Benton Township, Cheboygan County, Michigan. Enumerated in this household were George Pollock [30 Canada], his wife, Charlotte [26 Canada], children: George H. [4 Canada], & Victor M. [7 mos. Canada].2 1 June 1900, Charlotte and her husband, George, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, at 260 Second Street. Enumerated in this household were George Pollock [April 1850 - 50 Canada, Scotland & Canada/English], his wife, Charlotte [December 1853 - 46 Canada, England & England], children: George H. [November 1875 - 24 Canada], & Victor M. [August 1879 - 20 Canada]. George & Charlotte were married 27 years with 2 children, 2 living. They rented their home and took in borders. George was a sailor.3 Charlotte's husband, George, died on 17 October 1907 in Nichol Township, Wellington County, Ontario, Canada, leaving her a widow.4 In 1911, Charlotte was listed on the Canadian census residing in the home of her son at Nichol Township, Wellington County, Ontario, Canada. Enumberated in the household were George Pollock [35 Ontario - November 1875], John [7 U.S.A. - November 1903], Eleanor [4 U.S.A. - July 1907] & his mother: Charlotte [58 Ontario - December 1852] & his Cousin: Eliza Colton [29 Ontario - July 1881 ]. George and his mother are widowed; he is a farmer.5 Charlotte departed this life on Thursday, 31 December 1931 in Birmingham, Bloomfield Township, Oakland County, Michigan, at the home of her son, Victor, at 619 Vinewood at age 78 years and 7 days.

Obituary: Mrs. George Pollock -
The death occurred at Birmingham, Mich., shortly before noon on Wednesday, December 31st, of Charlotte Colton, widow of the late Captain George Pollock, of Nichol, in her 79th year. Mrs. Pollock keft here December 19 to visit her sons: George, of Mount Clemens, and Victor, of Birmingham, and it was while at the latter's home that she was taken ill with pneumonia on Christmas night. Her illness took a serious turn on Monday and her neice, Mrs. Arthur Main, and granddaughter, Miss Eleanor Pollock, of Elora left on Tuesday morning for her bedside. The late Mrs. Pollock who was the daughter of the late Thomas and Eliza Colton, was born at Bronte, Ontario. She was married to George Pollock when she was nineteen years of age, and lived after her marriage for a time, in Detroit and Cheboygan, Mich. The family were residents of this district back about 1895, and later they returned to Detroit to return here 24 years ago, where Capt. Pollock died one year later.
She leaves to mourn her loss, two sons, George, of Mount Clemens, and Victor, of Birmingham, and four grandchildren, one of whom is Miss Eleanor Pollock, who made her home with deceased, and a neice, Mrs. Arthur Main, formerly Miss Daisy Colton, of Elora, also one sister, Mrs. Hinton, of Bronte.
A short memorial service was held at the home of her son, Victor, and was conducted by Rev. Aiken, minister of the Methodist Church. The funeral took place from her late residence, Nichol Tp., on Saturday, Jan. 3rd, 1931 to Elora Cemetery for interment.
Relatives and friends from a distance were from Mount Clemens and Birmingham, Mich; Hamilton, Oakville, Bronte, Burlington, Toronto, Aldershot, Fergus and Niagra-on-the-Lake.
The pallbearers were nephews of the deceased: James Jackson, Thomas Johnson, Chester Hinton, Joe Hinton, Jack Cunneyworth and Arthur Main.
The floral offerings were numerous showing the esteem in which the deceased was held.

She was buried there in Elora Cemetery on Sunday, 3 January 1932 in plot A1-14.6 Daisy Colton Main was appointed administrator of Charlotte's estate on 19 May 1932.
