[S2091] Probate and Guardianship Records, 1674-1950 (Barnstable County, Massachusetts): Mary Cole was born on 22 October 1679 in Eastham, (then) Plymouth Colony, the daughter of John and Ruth (Snow) Cole. She was named in her sister Hannah's will dated 03 February 1725/6 as Mary Cole, suggesting that she was still unmarried.[1][3] Her death date is currently unknown, but after the date of her sister's will.
It has been suggested that she married Nathaniel Doane who died in 1758 in Harwich, as he had a wife Mary and six children born 1706-1715 probably in Eastham. No proof has been found that his wife was this Mary Cole, and her sister's will, naming her as Mary Cole not Doane, argues against the possibility. Until further proof is found of a marriage, this profile will follow the Mayflower Society's guidance.
Hannah Cole was born on 27 Mar 1675 in Eastham, (then) Plymouth Colony, the daughter of John Cole and Ruth Snow.] She died unmarried by 18 March 1729, when her will of 03 February 1725/6 was proved. Her will mentions her two "natural sisters," Sarah Cole and Mary Cole who were named as her executrices, and her cousin Hannah Twining.
