Hawise de Chester Countess of Lincoln

     Hawise de was born circa 1180 in Chestershire, England.¹ Hawise de married Robert de Quincey, son of Saier de Quincey 1st Earl of Wincester and Margaret de Beaumont Countess of Wincester, in England.¹ Hawise's husband, Robert, died in 1217 in London, County Middlesex, England, leaving her a widow.¹ Hawise inherited the Earldom of Lincolnshire from her brother, Ralph, who died in October of 1232. As a result of the king's acceptance of the inheritence, she gained the title of Countess of Lincolnshire.¹ Hawise departed this life before 19 February 1243 in Lincolnshire, England, at the Castle of Bolingbroke. On this date, her son-in-law, Walter Marshall, Earl of Pembroke, restored Hawise's castle of Bolingbroke to the King.¹
