Marquerite Chemereau

     Marquerite was born circa 1651 in Normandy, France.1 On 15 May 1669, Marquerite left her home in France aboard the ship, "St-Jean-Baptiste", under the command of Captain Pierre Fillye, as one of 149 young ladies who were "Filles de Roi". These young ladies boarded the ship at either Dieppe or La Rochelle & were under the care of Madame Bourdon. They arrived at Quebec on the 30th of June..2,3,4 Marquerite married Jean Piette dit Trempe circa 1669 in Quebec, Canada. 1681, Marquerite and her husband, Jean, were listed on the Canadian Census in the Seigneurie-de-Villemure, Berthier County, Quebec, Canada. Enumerated in this household were Jean Piet [40 years], Marguerite Chemereau [30 years], Antoine [11 years], Pierre [8 years], Marie [6 years], Jeanne [ 3 years] & Marguerite [1 years]. He had a rifle, 4 cows & 5 arpents of land.4,5 Marquerite departed this life on Saturday, 14 September 1715 in Sorel, St-Pierre-De Saurel, Quebec, Canada. She was buried there in the churchyard of St-Pierre on Sunday, 15 September 1715.6
