     Owen was born in May 1827 in New Jersey. He was the son of Oliver & Elizabeth Chapman.1 Owen married Luiza Howell, daughter of Parshall Howell II and Elizabeth Horton, circa 1853 in Dexter Township, Washtenaw County, Michigan. Owen & Luiza had children: Elizabeth Amanda [9/06/1853-10/03/1885] [m. Mr. Gage], Frank [3/00/1858] [m. 1882 Mary Jeanette Moody], Fredrick [5/00/1859-1914], Ford [7/00/1864] [m.Nellie Durham] & Lilly [11/24/1866-8/12/1947]. 18 August 1860, Owen and his wife, Luiza, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Dexter Township. Enumerated in this household were Owen Chapman [32 New York], his wife: Louisa [31 New Jersey], children: Amanda [6 Michigan], Frank [4 Michigan], & Fred [1 Michigan].2 24 June 1870, Owen and his wife, Luiza, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Macon, Macon County, Missouri. Enumerated in this household were Orien Chaplan [42 New York], his wife: Louisa [42 New York], Elizabeth [16 Michigan], Frank [12 Michigan], Fred [10 Michigan], Ford [5 Michigan] & Lilly [4 Michigan].3 17 June 1880, Owen and his wife, Luiza, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Hudson Township, Macon County, Missouri. Enumerated in this household were Owen Chapman [53 New York], his wife: Lewisa [52 New Jersey - Long Island & New York], Ford [15 Michigan], Frank [22 Michigan], Fred [21 Michigan], Lilly [13 Michigan], Amanda Gage [26 Michigan][daughter].4 Owen's wife, an unknown person , died on 25 March 1886 in Hudson Township, Macon County, Missouri, leaving him a widower. 15 June 1900, Owen was listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Jackson Township, Randolph County, Missouri. Enumerated in this household were James W. Brogan [59 Missour - December 1840], his wife: Sally M. [52 Tennessee - March 1848], Ella N. [22 Missouri - August 1877], Mattie [20 Missouri - August 1879], Lucy J. [18 Missouri - June 1881], Milford French [13 Missouri - February 1887][to be adopted], border: Owen Chapman [73 New York - May 1827][widow].5 Owen departed this life on Saturday, 20 June 1908 in Hudson Township at age 81 years and 1 month. He was buried there in Oakwood Cemetery.
