On 24 July 1635, Thomas left London, aboard the ship, "Assurance", under the command of Captain Isack Bromwell, enroute for Virginia. Before being permitted to board, he had to present a certificate showing his examination by the minister of Gravesend, County Essex.. Among the passengers were John Budd aged 15 years, Thomas More aged 19 years & John More aged 28 years..1
