In the name of God Amen. The ixth daye of Marche in the yere of or Lord god 1562. etc. I John brown of Withum [Witham co. Essex] make this my testament etc, furst I beueth my soull to god etc. To Thomas my sonne and Elizabeth his wife my house or tenement called Polles, and unto the heyres of their two boiyes and for lack of issue I bequueth the said house unto Elizabeth Raven my daughter, and for lack of issue of the said Elizabeth I bequeath the house aforesaid unto Denys Amys and to the heyres of her bodye lawfully begotten and for the lack of issue of the said Denys unto Thomas Brown my brother and the heyres of his bodye and for lack of issue of the said Thomas I will the said tenement to the next of my bloode and to their heyres for ever. To Henry Brown my sonne xx shillings. To John Raven my sonne in law iii pounds vi shillings viii pence. Unto Denys Amys iii pounds vi shillings viii pence at the daye of her mariedge. To the child of Elizabeth Ravens (sic) To Thomas Brown my brother xx shillings. Unto Henry Browns iiii children that is to saye Margery, Anne, Joan and Anne ye younger unto eny one of them xx shillings. Thomas Brown my sonne I ordeyn and make my executor.2

John departed this life before 19 April 1563 in Witham, County Essex, England. His will was probated on 19 April 1563.
