     John was born on Saturday, 28 March 1840 in Bloom Township, Seneca County, Ohio.¹ John married Harriet Cornelia Holden on 11 March 1863 in Dekalb County, Indiana. John & Harriet had one child, Henry B. [1/09/1864-5/21/1946][m. 11/10/1886 Almminda Drane & 2nd 9/18/1897 Ida M. Harris & 3rd 11/10/1935 Marie Mandall]. John's wife, Harriet, died before 1866 in Indiana, leaving him a widower. John married 2nd Rebecca Snyder on 12 January 1867 in Kosciusko County, Indiana. They had been married 44 years with 7 children, all living.⁵ John died on Wednesday, 17 January 1912 in Niles at age 71 years, 9 months and 20 days of Lagrippe.^6,1 He was buried there in Silver Brook Cemetery on Friday, 19 January 1912.¹
