Lydia Malinda Bonebrake

     Lydia Malinda was born on Sunday, 5 October 1845 in Chambersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Samuel Bonebrake and Mary Hepford. Lydia Malinda married Lewis Stremmel, son of George Ludwig Stremmel and Frederika Feiring, on 6 October 1871 in Crawford County, Ohio. This marriage ended in divorce before 1880.1 24 June 1880, the U.S. Federal Census listed Lydia living in the home of her mother at Bucyrus village, Crawford County, Ohio. Enumerated in this household were Mary Bonebrake [58 Pennsylvania] & Malinda [33 Pennsyvania], divorced.2 9 June 1900, Lydia was listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Bucyrus. Enumerated in this household were Lydia Bonebrake [52 Pennsylvania - October 1847], married with no children. She owns her home free and clear.3 18 April 1910, Lydia was listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Bucyrus. Enumerated in this household were Lydia Bonebrake [59 Pennsylvania], and a Boarder, Frank Hirst [60 Ohio], Lydia was a widow and had her own income, and Frank was a brick layer for a building contractor. Lydia had no children and owned her home free and clear.4 15 January 1920, Lydia was listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Bucyrus at 574 Spring Street. Enumerated in this household were Lydia Bonebrake [71 Pennsylvania] and a boarder, Frank Hirst [68 Ohio]. Frank was a brick layer working for a contractor.5 Lydia departed this life on Friday, 24 December 1926 in Bucyrus at age 81 years, 2 months and 19 days.6 She was buried there in Oakwood Cemetery on Monday, 27 December 1926.
