Lydia was born in County Surrey, England. She was the daughter of Robert & Margaret Hicks. On 6 September 1612, she was christened in Bermondsey, County Surrey, England, at St. Mary Magdalen.2 In 1623, Lydia left England aboard the ship, "Anne", mastered by William Peirce, enroute for New England. Listed among the passengers were her mother, Margaret Hickes & her siblings. They arrived in the Plymouth Colony in late June. Her father had come previously on the ship "Fortune". which had arrived in November 1621..3,4 Lydia married Edward Bangs, son of John Bangs and Jane Chavis, in 1633 in Plymouth, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. Lydia departed this life circa 1634 in Plymouth, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. She probably died from complications of childbirth.

These vessels brought a hundred new persons, including those who had formerly sailed in John Peirce's "Paragon". Many were from the Leyden flock, and several were wives, children, and kindred of the earlier settlers. Margaret Hickes, wife of Robert Hickes, and 3 children.
