     John was born circa 1598 in County Essex, England. John married Mary Levit on 26 December 1622 in Messing, County Essex, England, at All Saints Church.1 On 22 June 1632, John & his wife, Mary, left from London aboard the ship, "Lion", mastered by Captain Mason, bound for New England. They disembarked at Boston Harbor.2,3 By 1636 the White family had settled at Hartford where they were to remain. John's sister Elizabeth and her husband William Goodwin settled there has well.
