William was born circa 1699 in Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island. William married Hannah Hicks in Swansea Township, Bristol County, Massachusetts. He signed a petition to the Rhode Island Legislature in June 1728. In May of 1732, William, with his brothers Cornelius & Daniel, were admitted freemen in Glocester. He purchased property New Hartford, Connecticut as early as 1748. His brothers, Daniel & Thomas, also moved there. His father left him his wearing apparel & a gun in his will of 7 March 1752. In 1778, he granted land in New Hartford to his son, William.1,2,3 William departed this life possibly in New Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut.
