William Torrey

     William was born on Tuesday, 21 January 1744 in Middletown, Middlesex County, Connecticut. William married Hannah Wheeler on 13 April 1771 in Williamstown, Berkshire County, Massachusetts. William went with his older brother to Williamstown, Massachusetts and resided there next to his brother's property the rest of his life . William and Hannah had children: Jason [6/30/1772-11/11/1848][m. Lois Welsh], David [5/19/1774-12/17/1853][m. Esther Woodcock], Josiah [3/9/1776-11/__/1814][m. Jane McDonald], Samuel [12/26/1777-9/__/1854][m. Elizabeth Lewis], Mary [5/11/1780-3/25/1834][m. Stephen Smith] & Ephraim [3/26/1782-9/24/1829][m. Eunice Lewis].¹ William departed this life on Monday, 30 October 1820 in Williamstown at age 76 years, 9 months and 9 days. He was buried there in Southlawn Cemetery. The inscrption on his tombstone reads: In Memory of William Torrey who Died Oct, 30 1820 in the 77 year of his age.
