On 17 July 1674, his uncle, Gregory Wolterton, in his will, gave him certain lands. Also John was left one third of his father's estate in his will of 1 October 1674. John's wife, Rebecca, died on 22 December 1689 in Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut, leaving him a widower. A contract for the marriage of John and Susannah (?)
