     Jacob was born circa 1774 in Traptown, Frederick County, Maryland. He had no children. The 1840 U.S. Federal Census enumerates at Frederick Town, Frederick County, Maryland, the family of Jacob Ridgley 000000001:0011001.2 Jacob departed this life on Monday, 21 March 1842 in Jefferson, Frederick County, Maryland. On 2 June 1846. legacies were paid to his brothers & sisters as follows: William Ridgely, Westall Ridgely, Eli Ridgely, Sarah Harding, Ruth House, Martha House, and neices & nephews: the children of his deceased brother Thomas Ridgely. He was buried at Jefferson, Frederick County, Maryland, in Jefferspm United Methodist Church Cemetery.3 Jacob's brothers, William and Eli were assigned as administrators of his estate. On 2 June 1846, legacies were paid to his brothers & sisters as follows: William Ridgely, Westall Ridgely, Eli Ridgely, Sarah Harding, Ruth House & Martha House, each received $88.79. To the children of his late brother, Thomas, namely Thomas H., Mary A.Dever, Jacob T. J., Robert, William, Cornelia, & Bethany, each of them receiving 1/7 of Thomas' share of $88.79 or $12.68 each.4
