Marie-Anne Massard

     Marie-Anne was born on Sunday, 20 February 1667 in ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada. She was the daughter of Nicolas Massard and Anne Bellesoeur dit Lucas. She was christened there on 26 February 1667 in the Basilica of Notre Dame.¹ A contract for the marriage of Marie-Anne & Louis Melin was signed on 9 November 1682 in Quebec, Canada. It was drawn up by notary Gilles Rageot. It noted that he was residing at Lauzon; originated from St-Pierre, Froisis-de-Raye, diocese of Nantes; son of the late Louis Melline & Jeanne Collin. It noted that she was of Lauzon; daughter of Nicolas Massard..² Louis & Marie-Anne had children: Marie-Jeanne [1/09/1686-4/26/1713][m. 9/09/1706 Blaise Foudurose] & Francoise-Angelique [2/10/1687-12/02/1764][m. 10/29/1705 Pierre Moreau Francoeur].³ Marie-Anne's husband, Louis, died circa 1687 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, leaving her a widow. Marie-Anne married 2nd Marin Varin dit Gaudriole on 28 June 1688 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, at the Basilica of Notre Dame.⁴ Marin & Marie-Anne had children: Joseph-Nicolas [11/28/1691], Marie Therese[1693-12/05/1758][m. 11/23/1715 Nicolas Duffy dit Lamarche] & Marie-Michelle [2/12/1695-1/17/1756][m. 11/26/1712 Leonard Jean Tourangeau].⁵ Marie-Anne's husband, Marin, died circa 29 October 1712 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, leaving her a widow. Marie-Anne married 3rd Francois Brunet Lafaye on 27 August 1713 in Montreal at the Basilica of Notre Dame.⁶ Marie-Anne's husband, Francois, died circa 5 April 1753 in Montreal at Hotel-Dieu, leaving her a widow. Marie-Anne departed this life on Saturday, 20 October 1753 in Montreal at age 86 years and 8 months. She was buried there in the cemetery of Hotel-Dieu on Sunday, 21 October 1753.⁷
