Francis Mapes1,2

M, b. circa 1588
     Francis was born circa 1588 in Feltham, County Norfolk, England. He was the son of Leonard Mapes and Catherine Southwell. Francis married Anna Loveday before 1628 in England. Francis was the first of his family to leave Feltham. He settled in Rowlesey, Norfolk County, England. He was a surveyor as were several generations before him. He spent one year in Jamestown, Virginia working under Captain John Smith.
