Jane Kirby

F, b. circa 1636, d. before 21 July 1707
     Jane was born circa 1636. She was the daughter of Richard Kirby [Curby] and Jane (?) Jane married Thomas Launders on 2 July 1651 in Sandwich, Cape Cod, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.1 Thomas and Jane had children: Mercy [1/23/1652-3/07/1654], John [1/02/1654-4/15/1737] [m. 1686 Rachel Freeman], Sarah [1658], Thomas [ca. 1661] [m. Mary Freeman], Tabitha [ca. 1663] [Reuben Waite], Richard [ca. 1670] [m. Saraha Freeman], Joseph [1672] [m. Rebecca] & Hasadiah [1/31/1675] [m. 5/28/1719 Benoni Ewen].2 In Sandwich on 3 February 1657, Jane and her sister, Sarah, were ordered to court for having caused a disturbance at worship. At the same court William Allen and Richard Kirby were also ordered to appear for the same complaint. At the next court session held on 5 March, Sarah and Jane were given punishments to be whipped. Sarah did receive the punishment, but Jane was excused from the whipping as long as she no longer practiced the “disturbances.”.3 Jane departed this life before 21 July 1707 in Massachusetts. On this date, an agreement was signed by two of her brothers & two sisters and it was indicated that she was deceased.
