     Jane was born in 1817 in New York. Jane married Townsend Carpenter, son of Townsend Carpenter and Elizabeth Truesdell, in Canandaigua, Ontario County, New York. Townsend & Jane had children: Elizabeth & Henry [b. ca. 1845]. 24 July 1860, Jane and her husband Townsend were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Manchester Township, Ontario County, New York. Enumerated in this household were Townsend Carpenter [48 New York], Jane [33 New York], Elizabeth [13 Michigan] & Henry 10 Illinois]. Their personal estate was valued at $300. Townsend is a Harness Maker.2 She died before the 3rd of June 1880 as her husband is noted as a widower on the U.S. census.
