Walter fitz Alan

M, b. circa 1110, d. 1177
     Walter was born circa 1110 probably at Shropshire, England. He was the son of Alan fitz Flaad and Avelina de Hesdin. Walter was the third son of the fourth Senescal of Dol. He entered the service of David I, King of Scotland and was later appointed his steward. Malcolm IV confirmed this appointment, "Steward of Scotland" to the Stewart family in 1157. Walter departed this life in 1177.
