Marguerite Crete

     Marguerite was born on Thursday, 27 March 1659 in Beauport, ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada. She was the daughter of Jean Crete and Marguerite Gaulin. She was christened there on 20 April 1659 in La Nativitie-de-Notre-Dame Church.¹ A contract for the marriage of Marguerite & Pierre Gailloux was signed on 6 November 1678. The contract was written by Paul Vachon. The contract states that Pierre is the son of the late Nicolas Gaillou & the late Vivienne Godet. Also that Marguerite is the daughter of Jean Crete and Marguerite Gollin..² 1681, Marguerite and her husband, Pierre, were listed on the Canadian Census in Batiscan, Les Chenaux County, Quebec, Canada. Enumerated in this household were Pierre Gaillou [30 years], Marguerite Creste [22 years] & Pierre [2 years].³ Marguerite's husband, Pierre, died circa 5 November 1714 in Batiscan, Les Chenaux County, Quebec, Canada, leaving her a widow. Marguerite departed this life in Batiscan. She was buried there in the churchyard of St-Francois Xavier on Tuesday, 12 October 1734.⁴
