Louis Crete

M, b. 6 May 1656, d. 21 August 1685
     Louis was born on Saturday, 6 May 1656 in Beauport, ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada. He was the son of Jean Crete and Marguerite Gaulin. He was christened there on 20 May 1656 in the Basilica of Notre Dame.1 He made a trip to France, probably in hopes of finding a wife. A contract for the marriage of Louis Crete & Madeleine-Marguerite Briault was signed on 19 May 1685 at La Rochelle, Charente, Poitou-Charentes, France. Louis married Madeleine-Marguerite Briault on 28 May 1685 in La Rochelle at St-Sauveur Church.2 Louis departed this life on Tuesday, 21 August 1685 in St-Laurent, Ile d'Orleans, Quebec, Canada, at age 29 years, 3 months and 15 days. This happened the same day he arrived home from France. He was buried there in the cemetery of St-Laurent on Saturday, 25 August 1685.3
