     John was born on Tuesday, 21 June 1814 in Pleasant Township, Fairfield County, Ohio. He was the son of Jacob Corfman II and Magdalena Bibler. John married Delila Holmes (?) on 25 November 1835 at Fairfield County. John & Delila had children: Rebecca [1836], James W. [1838] & John [10/04/1840-5/26/1871][m. 1864 Sarah Hufford].2 John's wife, an unknown person , died on 22 July 1841 in Monday Creek Township, Perry County, Ohio, leaving him a widower. John married 2nd Catharine Hufford on 17 April 1842 at Perry County. John & Catherine had children: Nancy [1844], Barbara [1845-1846], Susan [1846], Lydia M. [3/04/1847-3/19/1948][m. 1867 Alonzo Rines], Solomon [10/06/1848-9/19/1849] Lewis M [9/__/1850], Matilda [1852], Elizabeth [1855], George [11/16/1856-12/31/1864], Elmer Ellsworth [1863].3 11 December 1850, John and his wife, Catharine, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Monday Creek Township. Enumerated in this household were John Kerfman [36 Ohio], Catharine [31 Ohio], Rebecca [14 Ohio], James [12 Ohio], Susanna [4 Ohio], Lydia [3 Ohio] & Lewis [3/12 Ohio].4 15 June 1860, John and his wife, Catharine, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Toledo Township, Tama County, Iowa. Enumerated in this household were J Corfman [47 Ohio], C [42 Ohio], J [19 Ohio], S [15 Ohio], L [13 Ohio], L. M. [11 Ohio], M [8 Ohio], E [5 Iowa] & G B [3 Iowa].5 25 June 1870, John and his wife, Catharine, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Toledo Township. Enumerated in this household were John [56 Ohio], Catharine [52 Ohio], Susannah [24 Ohio], Matilda [18 Ohio], Elizabeth [16 Ohio], Lewis [21 Ohio] & Elmer E [7 Iowa].6 John's wife, Catharine, died on 30 July 1876 in Toledo Township leaving him a widower. John married 3rd Edie Higgins. 1 June 1880, John and his wife, Edie, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Toledo Township. Enumerated in this household were John Corfman [66 Ohio], Eduie [47 Ohio] & Elmer [16 Ohio].7 John departed this life on Tuesday, 11 October 1892 in Toledo Township at age 78 years, 3 months and 20 days. He was buried there in Woodlawn Cemetery.
