     William was born on Wednesday, 5 March 1856 in the Village of Bronte, Trafalgar Township, Halton County, Ontario, Canada. He was the son of Thomas Bethel Colton and Eliza Chester. William married Celestia Jane Mary Hinton on 11 December 1876 in Nelson Township.1 William & Celste had children: William Thomas [3/17/1878-7/15/1945], infant son [still born] [3/02/1880], Eliza Jane [13 July 1881-11 February 1968] [m. 11/29/1920 John Arthur Main].2,3 1881, William and his wife, Celestia, were listed on the Canadian Census at the Village of Bronte, Trafalgar Township. Ann M.]. 22 April 1891, William and his wife, Emma, were listed on the Canadian Census at Burlington, Halton County, Ontario, Canada. He owns his home.9 William departed this life on Thursday, 13 March 1930 in Burlington at age 74 years and 8 days. He was buried there in Greenwood Cemetery.10
