Countess Marjorie of Carrick

     Marjorie of was born before 1256 in Carrick, Ayrshire, Scotland. She was the daughter of Neil, 2nd Earl of Carrick and Margaret Stewart. Marjorie of married Adam de Kilconcath. before 4 October 1266 in Carrick, Ayrshire, Scotland. She acceded to her title as Countess of Carrick in 1256. Marjorie's husband, Adam, died in 1270, leaving her a widow. Adam died while on a crusade to the Holy Lands. Robert Bruce, a companion of Adam's, returned to Scotland with the news of his death. Marjorie was so taken with the young man, that she imprisoned him until he agreed to marry her. Marjorie of married 2nd Robert de Bruce VII Earl of Carrick, son of Robert de Bruce VI and Isabella de Clare, in 1271 in Carrick, Ayrshire, Scotland, at Turnberry Castle. Marjorie departed this life before 1292 in Carrick, Ayrshire, Scotland.
