John Bedingfeld

     John was born in 1540 in Bedingfeld Parish, County Suffolk, England. He was the son of Sir Henry Bedingfeld and Katherine Townsend. John married Margaret Stillsden in 1573 in Bedingfeld Parish. John was a zealous Catholic and was a harborer of priests. Once he was caught with one living with him and was forced to pay a heavy fine. It was said that he constantly maintained a priest in his home. John departed this life on Tuesday, 21 February 1606 in Bedingfeld Parish at age 66 years.
