     Edward Augustus was born on Tuesday, 19 April 1803 in New York City, New York County, New York, at the family home at 99 Beekman Street. He was the son of Augustus Wright and Katharine Uyt ten Bogaert [second]. Edward married Mary A. Nelson on 12 December 1826 in New York City. Edward & Mary had children: Augustus [12/25/1827-8/11/1828], Edward Augustus Jr. [5/13/1829-9/14/1907], Caroline Augusta [2/28/1831-9/16/1911], Margaret Leggett [5/21/1833-8/11/1836], & Maria Seaman [10/03/1835-8/16/1856]. Edward was in the dry goods business on Pearl street, with his brother, John Bogart & his nephew, Augustus Wright Leggett. He was prominent in the Society of Friends. 22 August 1850, Edward and his wife, Mary, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in New York City. Enumerated in this household were E. Edward Sr. is a merchant.3 4 June 1880, Edward was listed on the U.S. Federal Census in New York City. Enumerated in this household were Edward Wright [70 New York], Ed Wright Jr. [40 New York-city weigher], daughter, Caroline [33 New York], servant, Lizzie Gremwell [21 New York]. Edward Sr. is a retired merchant.4 Edward departed this life on Friday, 17 September 1880 in New York City at age 77 years, 4 months and 29 days. He was buried there in Brooklyn in the Friends' Cemetery in Prospect Park.
