Thomas was born in 1620 in Colchester, County Essex, England. He was the son of Hugh & Frances Welles. Thomas married Mary Beardsley, daughter of William Beardsley and Mary Harvey, circa 1651 in Wethersfield, Hartford County, Connecticut. Thomas & Mary had children: Thomas [1/10/1652][m. Abigail Allis & wnd Elizabeth [Davis]Kilbourne] & Joshua [2/18/1674].2 After May 1651, the family resided at Hadley, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. Thomas made his will on 30 September 1676 at Hadley, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. He gave land to Thomas & Jonathan and the rest of his estate to his wife. Thomas departed this life in Hadley. The inventory of Thomas's estate was taken on Monday, 14 December 1676 by John Colman, John Welles & Samuel Pantrigg. It was valued at £732 12s. 6d. & debts of £9 10s.
