Martha Underhill

     Martha was born on Monday, 13 October 1760 in New Castle, Philllipse Manor, Westchester County, New York. She was the daughter of Abraham and Keziah Underhill. Martha married Walter Haight, son of Samuel Haight and Rebecca Fowler, on 16 December 1784 in Phillipse Manor, Westchester County, New York. He was a Hicksite Quaker. He was a farmer and carpenter. The family lived in New Castle, 2 miles S. E. from Chappaqua Meeting House. Walter and Martha had children: Rebecca [5/03/1786-7/10/1860], Abraham [7/21/1788-3/28/1872] [m. Phebe Smith], Phebe [3/20/1793-9/05/1831] [m. Ebenezer Haviland], Jesse [10/30/1795-4/13/1845] [m. 1817 Elizabeth Kipp] & Sophia [3/03/1803-6/06/1817].¹ Martha departed this life on Thursday, 16 December 1841 in Chappaqua at age 81 years, 2 months and 3 days. She was buried there in the Quaker Cemetery. Martha Haight Died 1841 - Aged 82 years.
