Katherine Townsend
F, b. 1513, d. before 7 December 1581
Katherine was born in 1513 in Raynham, County Norfolk, England. She was the daughter of Sir Roger Townsend and Amy Brewes [Brawce]. Katherine married Sir Henry Bedingfeld, son of Sir Edmund Bedingfeld and Grace Marney, circa 1533 in Oxborough. When she became gravely ill, Katherine wrote to the privy council requesting that her husband could return to their manor and be with her for what time she had remaining. The council granted her request with the provision that Henry would not leave the manor without permission. Katherine departed this life before 7 December 1581 in Oxborough at Oxbourgh Hall.1 She was buried there in the Bedingfeld Chapel, St. John the Evangelist.
