Joseph Tibbals

     Joseph was born on Wednesday, 27 March 1686 in Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut. He was the son of Thomas Tibbals and Abigail Stream. Joseph married Abigail Baldwin, daughter of Jonathan Baldwin and Thankful Strong, circa 1717 in Durham, Middlesex County, Connecticut. Joseph and Abigail had children: Joseph [7/27/1718-5/27/1750], James [7/21/1720-d.y.], Thomas [9/25/1722-1/03/1810], Abigail [7/01/1725], John [10/29/1727-12/29/1784], James [10/29/1727], Ebenezer 1/19/1730-5/25/1819], Mary [bp. 12/3/1732-d.y.], Mary [11/20/1733] & Samuel [5/29/173510/11/1750].^1,2 Joseph's wife, Abigail, died on 4 September 1750 in Durham leaving him a widower. He married second in October of 1752, the widow Elizabeth Lane. Joseph departed this life on Sunday, 30 October 1774 in Norwalk, Fairfield County, Connecticut, at age 88 years, 7 months and 3 days. He was buried there in the Old Durham Cemetery. The inscription on his tombstone reads: In Memory of Deacon Joseph Tibbals, who having faithfully served his generation according to the will of God fell on sleep the 30^th of October 1776.²
