Jane Tapp

Jane was born in Bennington, Herefordshire, England. She was christened there on 14 February 1627/28 in St. Peter's Church.¹ She was the daughter of Edmund Tapp II and Anna (?) Jane married Robert Treat, son of Richard Treat and Alice Gaylord, during the evening of Christmas 1647, at a spinning bee in the Tapp family home in Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut.² Jane departed this life on Wednesday, 31 October 1703 in New Haven. She was buried there in the first Church of Milford Cemetery. The inscription on her stone reads: "1703 Heere Lieth Interrd Mrs. Jane Treat aged 75 years and Dyed the Last ... [rest missing or buried in ground]".³
