Reverand Samuel Treat1

Samuel was born on Thursday, 3 September 1648 in Wethersfield, Hartford County, Connecticut. He was the son of Robert Treat and Jane Tapp. In 1672, he was ordained a minister. Samuel married Elizabeth Mayo, daughter of Captain Samuel Mayo and Thomasine Lumpkin, on 16 April 1674.2 Samuel's wife, Elizabeth, died on 4 December 1696 in Eastham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts, leaving him a widower. Samuel married 2nd Abigail Willard on 29 August 1700 in Massachusetts. Abigail was 1st married to Benjamin Eastbrook. Samuel departed this life on Thursday, 18 March 1716/17 in Eastham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. He was buried in Eastham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts, in the ancient Cememtery. On his tombstone, the inscrption reads: Samuel Treat died March, 18 1716/17 in his 69th year.3
