Marilda Townsend

     Marilda was born on Wednesday, 8 January 1806 in Greenville, Greene County, New York. She was the daughter of Christopher Townsend and Bathia Rider. Marilda married Jacob Weston on 18 November 1827 in Kingston, Ulster County, New York.¹ The 1840 U.S. Federal Census enumerates at Washtenaw County, Michigan, the family of Jacob Weston [1100001:101001].² 4 September 1850, Marilda and her husband, Jacob, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Webster Township, Washtenaw County, Michigan. Enumerated in this household were Jacob Weston [54 New Jersey], his wife: Merilda [44 New York], children: Matilda [21 New York], Seth [20 New York], William [14 New York], Melvina [12 Michigan], & Albert [4 Michigan].³ Marilda's husband, Jacob, died on 31 July 1855 in Dexter, Washtenaw County, Michigan, leaving her a widow.⁴ 1860, the U.S. Federal Census listed Marilda living in the home of her son at Webster Township, Washtenaw County, Michigan. Enumerated in this household were William H. Weston [24 New York], Marilda [54 New York], Matilda [30 New York], Louisa [21 Michigan] & Albert [14 Michigan].⁵ Marilda departed this life on Wednesday, 1 February 1882 in Dexter, Washtenaw County, Michigan.⁶ She was buried in Dexter, Washtenaw County, Michigan, in the Forestlawn Cemetery.
