Robert Smith

M, b. circa 1477, d. before 20 October 1510
     Robert was born circa 1477 in Stratford St. Mary, County Suffolk, England.1 He was the son of William Smith and Katherine Brown. He was under the age of 16 when his father wrote his will on 29 October 1492. Robert made his will on 6 October 1510.

. . . parson & Curat of Erwarton . . . to be buryed in the channsel of Erwarton . . . lands and tenements lyeing in Erwarton which my father gaff me by testament after ye decease of my mother Dame Kateryn Smyth . . . be sowld . . . the money ther of . . . First I gyff to the church of Erwarton A cape And vestement rede velvet piece x pounds Also I wol have A honest priest and a bul [?] to go to Rome to Syng for me at Scalo [?] college v massys And he to have for hys labours x pounds Also I bequeath to our holy father the pope of Rome to ye maymteynyng of his wars x pounds lowly besechyng hym of Absolution of my Synnys And trespasses . . . Al my greynnys in the bernys . . . & all my catell with al my moveable goods be sowld . . . & money ther of to pay my Detts first to the bushop for my frutts . . .executors . . . . Dame Katherin Smyth my mother Thomas Hall of Ippeswich and John Palmer of Erwarton . . .2

Robert departed this life before 20 October 1510 in Erwarton Parish. He was buried there in the chancel of St. Mary's Church.2 His will was probated on 20 October 1510.
