John Smith

M, b. circa 1572, d. before 26 June 1618
     John was born circa 1572 in Burstall, County Suffolk, England. John married Mary Gardiner on 15 November 1597 in Burstall, County Suffolk, England, at St. Mary's Church.1,2 John made his will on 27 May 1618 at Burstall.

. . . unto Marie my wiefe the house or Tenement wherein I now dwell with all the Barnes Stables & other edifices thereunto belonging . . . with all the freeholde Coppieholde & lease landes whereof I am nowe seized . . . in Burstall . . .until my sonne John Smyth shall accomplish his full age of fower & twentie years. . . [then] the saide Marie my wiefe shall have & enjoye The parlor Chamber with free libertie of ingresse egresse & regresse thereunto as also free libertie to fetch & take water at the ponde pightle, and also all the fruite that shallbee yearelie growing in the ponde pightle and libertie to bake & brew in the hall for her necessary use . . . the saide John Smyth paying all suche Legacies unto his Brethren as are by mee hereafter given . . . unto Samuel Smyth my seconde sonne the some of tenn pounds . . . when . . . of the full afe of fower & twentie years . . . unto my sonnes Phillippe Henry and Nathaniel . . . the like some of tenn pounds . . . at their sevrall ages of xxiiij . . . unto the saied John Symth my Sonne . . . one joined bedstead the longe table & Cubboard now standing in the haule and one great kettle of Brasse with a bayle . . . at his fore saied age of xxiiij years. . . All the rest of my goods Cattell household stuffe and corne of what nature soever yt bee . . . unto Marie my wiefe whom I make my sole executrix . . . my loving friend Mr. Thomas Moswell to be my supervisor for the direction of my wiefe and children whom I require to be ruled by him.3

John departed this life before 26 June 1618 in Burstall. He was buried there in the churchyard of St. Mary's on Tuesday, 26 June 1618.1 His will was probated on 17 July 1618.
