     John was born in 1649 in Portsmouth, Newport County, Rhode Island. He was the son of Captain James Sands and Sarah Walker. John married Sybil Ray, daughter of Simon Ray III and Mary Thomas, circa 1682 in Rhode Island. John and Sybil had children: John [1/22/1684-8/30/1763] [m.
