     Peter IM was born on Wednesday, 15 April 1767 in Strausburg, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Peter IM Shoffstall and Anna Elizabeth Kornman. Peter married Catherine Hoffman circa 1792 in Pennsylvania. Peter and Catherine had children: Susanna [2/28/1793-1885][m. Johannes William Welker], Catherine [4/15/1795-4/03/1880][m. John Jacob Umholtz], Magdalena [10/27/1797-4/16/1879][m. Henry John Hartman], Simon [3/1/1800-3/28/1850][m. Susanna Jury], Jacob [12/15/1802] [m. Salome Huber], Hannah [bapt. 6/14/1805], Johannes [bapt. 11/03/1807-3/06/1883][m. Polly Schoffstall], Margareta [bapt. 8/19/1810], Elizabeth [bapt. 7/07/1813][m. Andrew Wentworth], Daniel [m. Julia Ann Klinger & 2nd. Mary Klinger Swaney], Rebecca [m. William Yager] & Joseph [bapt.12/06/1819-11/09/1905][m. Mary Ann Coxon].1 In the 1800 Pennsylvania Septennial Census the following are listed as residing in Upper Paxton, Dauphin County: Christiam Shofstall, Peter Shofstall Sen., Soloman Shofstall, Daniel Shofstall, Henry Shofstall, John Shofstall & Peter Shofstall Jr.2 The 1810 U.S. Federal Census enumerates at Jonestown, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, the family of Peter Shofstall [11010:23010]. He is listed directly above his brother, Solomon.3 Peter's wife, Catherine, died on 31 October 1819 in Lykens Township leaving him a widower. Peter is listed on the Lykens Tax Assessment Roles for the following years: 1792, 1805, 1811, 1817, 1820 & 1825. Peter married 2nd Catherine Salada circa 1823 in Lykens Township. Peter and Catherine had children: Jacob [2/00/1824-3/23/1901][m. Elizabeth [Rossman] Yarnell], Lavina Ann [1826-1869][m. Thomas John Thomas], William "Peter" [2/02/1829-10/07/1911] [m. Mary Magdalene Williams] & William Charles [1832][m. Mary Elizabeth Drake]. Peter departed this life on Wednesday, 1 October 1851 in Wayne Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, at age 84 years, 5 months and 16 days. He was buried in Cochranton, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, in Cochranton Cemetery. The inscription on his tombstone reads: Peter Shofstall - Died Oct. 1 1861 - Aged 84 y's. 5 mo. 16 d's.4
