     James was born circa 1681 in Hempstead Town, Queens County, Long Island, New York. He was the son of John Searing I and Susanah Pine. James married Sarah Pearsall, daughter of Daniel Pearsall and Emma Bassett, after 20 April 1703 in Hempstead Town, Queens County, Long Island, New York.3 James's wife, Sarah, died before 1732 in Hempstead Town, Queens County, Long Island, New York, leaving him a widower. James married 2nd Temperance Williams, daughter of John Williams and Leah Townsend, circa 1733 in Hempstead Town, Queens County, Long Island, New York. . James made his will on 24 April 1746 at Hempstead Town, Queens County, Long Island, New York. The will mentions his wife, Temperance, sons: Daniel, James [eldest son], two daughters: Sarah [wife of Jacob Fowler]. Mary [wife of Daniel Williams]. He names his son Daniel, his cousin Samuel Searing, and his son-in-law Zebulon Seaman executors. It was witnessed by Caleb Leveridge, Job Searing & Samuel Willis. [New York Wills: Liber 15, page 542] James died before 12 May 1746 in Hempstead Town, Queens County, Long Island, New York, being weak, feable & advanced in age.
