Geertje Reyerse

     Geertje was born in Flatbush, in the Town of Brooklyn, Kings County, Long Island, New York. She was christened there on 22 May 1706. Her sponsors were Cornelius Martense Ryerson & Geertje Lott.¹ She was the daughter of Jacob Reyerse and Styntje (?) Geertje married Hendrick Suydam circa 1731 in Kings County, Long Island, New York. Henry & Geertje had children: Hendrick [1732-7/08/1805][m. 7/15/1753 Rebecca Emmons], Jacob [2/03/1740-7/27/1811][m. 4/14/1764 Elizabeth Leacroft], Christian [1735] & Lambert [8/30/1743-4/01/1833][m. 4/10/1760 Sarah Hegeman]. Their homestead was near Bedford, Long Island. Geertje departed this life on Friday, 7 December 1770 in Suffolk County, Long Island at age 64 years, 6 months and 15 days.
