William de Plumpton1

M, b. 1362, d. 1405
     William de was born in 1362 in Spofforth Parish, West Riding of Yorkshire, England, at the Ville de Plumpton. He was the son of Robert de Plumpton and Isabella Scrope. William married Alice Gisburn, daughter of John Gisburn Merchant of York, circa 1382 in England. William departed this life in 1405. He was hung as an insurrectionist. William's death by hanging was a result of his supporting an insurrection led by his uncle, the Archbishop of York. He was described by a contemporary historian as a "brave and daring knight".
