Samuel Barlow

M, b. 1682, d. 20 May 1745
     Samuel was born in 1682 in Fairfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut.1 He was the son of John Barlow II and Abigail Lockwood. Samuel married Elizabeth Rumsey in 1705 in Fairfield. Samuel and Elizabeth had children: Gershom [2/17/1706-d.y.], Joseph [3/13/1707-], Gershom [12/19/1708-d.y.], Samuel [1/22/1709]-12/20/1773] [m. 8/02/1731 Eunice Bradley & 2nd. 8/07/1744 Esther Hull], Daniel [10/28/1711-d.y.], Elizabeth [6/20/1714-] [m. Benjamin Strugis], Abigail [8/05/1716-] [m. ca. 1738 Joseph Gold], Mary [11/021718-d.y.], David [3/01/1719-7/26/1801] [m. 12/27/1743 Susannah Hubbard & 2nd. 11/29/1750 Esther Strugis], Ann [10/08/1721-7/26/1801] [m. 3/11/1750 Joseph Sturgis & 2nd. William Knowles] & Grace [5/24/1724-] [m. 5/05/1742 Benjamin Lines & Jonathan Darrow]. All dates are Baptisms. Samuel made his will on 29 April 1743.

He mentions his wife Elizabeth; his sons: Samuel and David; daughters Ann Barlow, Elizabeth wife of Benjamin Sturgis, Abigail wife of Joseph Gold, Grace wife of Benjamin Lines and Eunice, daughter of son Joseph, deceased. He made his son David, executor. Samuel departed this life on Thursday, 20 May 1745 in Fairfield at age 63 years.1 He was buried at Fairfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut, in the Old Burying Ground. The inscription on his tombstone reads: Here lyes buried ye Body of Lieut. SAMUEL BARLOW Who Departed this Life May 20th. 1745, in ye 63rd Year of His Age.2 His will was probated on 19 June 1745. Letters of Administration of his estate were granted on 3 February 1746/47. On 2 February 1747/48, David Barlow, executor of Samuel's will, appeals the appointment of Samuel Barlow as administrator.
