Ecgfrida

     Ecgfrida was born circa 980 in the Kingdom of Bernicia. She was the daughter of Bishop Aldhun (?) Ecgfrida married Uchtred the Bold, son of Waltheof - Earl of Bernicia, circa 998 in the Kingdom of Bernicia. After her husband had received the two earldoms which created in him the Earldom of all of Northumbria, Uchtred divorced her in order to remarry and to bolster his alliances with the Danes which lived within his earldom. It was very important to her father that she be married well. He, in turn, paid a large dower for her. Ecgfrida married 2nd Kilvert (?), son of Ligulph (?), in the Kingdom of Bernicia. She divorced him & became a nun.
