“to my loving wife Hannah Mayo my whole estate both real and personall during her widowhood toward her maintenance after debts & Legacys are paid onely my Housing & lands not to be sold but Nessesdsity when other estate is gone: and if nessessity Require for to sell ye Housing & Lands for my wives maintenance, then my will is that after my decease my son Thomas shall have that small parcel of Land which I bought of Thomas Cole. Furthermore If by the Providence of God my wife should marry again then my will is that she shall have a third part of my moveable estate as I then is & no more. Furthermore my will is that my Grandchild John Mayo that has lived along with me shall have one Cow and one horse that is now in his possession. Further my will is that my Grandchild Thankful Mayo shall have one heifer of two years old. Furthermore my will is that my Grandchild Mary Mayo ye daughter of my son Thomas Mayo shall have a wine cup that my father gave me.
Item I give my Grtandchild Sarah Mayo the daughter of my son Daniel one silver spoon. Futher my will is that the rest of my Grandchildren shall have twelve pence apiece by my Executors out of estate. Further my will is that after my wives decease or marriage what estate is left either Real of Personall shall be equally divided unto all my sons now living or to their children. Furthermore I do appoint my loving sife Hannah Mayo and my son Daniel Mayo for to be my true and lawful executors Joyntly to see after the true performance of this my last will as witmess my hand & seal day of June one thousand seven hundred and two.2 John departed this life before 28 October 1706 at Eastham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.3 The inventory of John's estate was taken on Thursday, 28 October 1706. It was valued at £64, 3 shillings, 8 pence. His will was probated on 4 November 1706.

“to Nathaniell and Samuell a yeare old mare Colt being a Rid one that Came of the old Mare” …To Theophilus and my Daughter hannah the first two Coults that the young mares bring” …to my loving wife Hannah Mayo three mares three Cowes two three year old heifers two oxen two steers one bull two yeare old heifers two Calves and the land both upland and meadow Dureing her widowhood to bee solely att her Dispose and then afterwards one third to the eldest son; and the remainder to bee Disposed of amongst the Rest of the Children; further I give all my household goods to bee att my wives Disposall; my desire is that if it please god to blesse my wife and give her to enjoy life of that which she is now Reddy to bring Forth that shee bee mindfull to bestow something upon it as a token of my love and also my will is that my Children bee all brought up to write and Read”… “my loving Hannah Mayo to bee my sole exequitor; and my loving father Mr. Thomas Prence and my loving brothers John Freeman and Nathaniel Bacon to bee my overseers of this my last will" ...witnessed by Edward Bangs and Josias Cooke.4,5
